Maria asks…

What are the activities you can do at Las Vegas?

What are the activities you can do at Las Vegas? I’m going there on May 5th with my family.

Administrator answers:

I went to the Neon Graveyard, which is off the beaten path. It is an open storage yard where they house all of the old abandoned Las Vegas neon signs from the hotels. You might have seen it in a “CSI” episode or in the Killers’ video for “All These Things That I’ve Done”. It’s really cool….but REALLY HOT! Http://www.neonmuseum.org/

Watch the overhead show in old Las Vegas

Get a $6 Prime Rib dinner at Binion’s

Go to the Valley of Fire and Red Rocks

Take a trip to Area 51

Take in “O” at the Bellagio or “We Will Rock You” at the Paris

Visit the M&M Store and the Coca-Cola store

If you don’t live on the West Coast, you have to go to In N Out Burger – go to the one near UNLV, there’s less traffic

See the outdoor show at “Treasure Island” and “The Excalibur”

Try the Valley of Fire and Area 51 if you’re adventurous

Try to visit the nightclub “Pure” in Caesar’s

Try DelMonico’s Steakhouse in The Venetian

The Hilton has two really cool “Star Trek” simulator rides

If you’re a Queen fan, there’s “We Will Rock You” at the Paris

Visit the observation deck at the top of the Paris

Visit the observation deck at the top of the Stratosphere

There’s a lot more than casinos and strip clubs out there.

Sharon asks…

What is the best family-friendly show to see in Las Vegas?

My husband, kids [all girls: 11, 13, 16, 21], and I are going to Las Vegas from July 14th to the 21st, and we can’t decide on what to see. Please help!

Shows include broadway performances as well :)

Administrator answers:

“O”, “Ka” or Mystere are the best Cirque shows. Penn & Teller have a good show, too, I can recommend.

Here is why I recommend “O” first. It features a purpose built theater where the stage morphs right before your eyes from solid to liquid and back. You will see a guy walk across the stage and then immediately, another will do a high dive right where he was just walking!

It is absolutely amazing! You have to see it to believe it.

“Ka” has a Kung-fu or Martial Arts theme to it. In another purpose built theater, the entire theater creates an other-worldly experience. Strange creatures lurk! The focus here is defying gravity. It leads to an all out battle scene that takes place completely on a vertical battle field. Very cool!

Penn and Teller are masters of misdirection. They even explain the tricks to you but you still get fooled. It is a low key but fascinating show.

I am not one to recommend any broadway shows in Vegas. But, that is because I live near Broadway in New York and see them there. I have never bothered to go to see a second-string road cast do the same shows I see first hand. So, I cannot comment on them as such but the Shows themselves, Phantom and Jersey Boys are excellent shows at least the ones on Broadway.

I included a link to something completely different you may consider. Check it out.

Wow! Four daughters! I would be scared to death. My two sons were enough for me! Advise them to leave plenty of room in their suit case for all the shopping they will be doing. These Hotels are loaded with shops.

Good Luck in Vegas!

James asks…

How do you become a model at the fashion show mall?

I really, REALLY want to be a model on the catwalk in the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas!

Does anyone know how to apply? Or have a connection?

Thanks

Administrator answers:

Why not call the mall management office and speak to their events department. Ask them how they choose their catwalk models – if you can send in pictures directly to them or they book through agencies, and which agencies. If they do use agencies, send in your pics to the agencies they use and if they think you have the right look, they’ll have you come in so they can evaluate you in person to decide whether or not to sign you

Robert asks…

How would I get into the CES 2010 show in Las Vegas?

I will be in Las Vegas during the time of the CES show. I would really like to attend but can’t seem to find anything about how to get in (if I can…). Anyone have the know-how? Thanx!!

Administrator answers:

The International CES show is a trade only event. That doen’t necessarily mean that you can’t create your own credentials such as business cards and instantly become a participant in the industry. You’ve missed the October deadline for free tickets but not the advanced registration. The links below and browsing the cesweb.org site should answer most of your questions.
